MAYA KAUR, 53
Delhi, India

"My husband told the attackers ‘you kill me but let me meet my daughter one last time for two minutes.’ But they did not listen to anybody and set him on fire."

Mrs. Maya Kaur’s husband was a daily wage rickshaw-puller in Trilokpuri in East Delhi. She saw him being dragged out of their home, poured with petrol and burnt. She was 16 and had an eight-month-old daughter and became one of the youngest widows of 1984.
